In 2002 he play as soloist with Cristian Lindberg (Internazional Soloist) in the “Ballade of Kit Bones” by F. Högberg at the Festival International de Musique - Sion-Valais.
At the age of 15 he play as soloist all over the Europe. In concert and recordings.
Alongside solo work, he has played with artist such as: R. Chailly, Hilary Hahn, F.J. Thiollier, M. Campanella, O. Vänska, V. Lieberman, V. Globokar, A. Francis, H. Hardenberger, J. Mauger, D. Bruchez, ecc.
Alessandro was born in Lugano, Swiss. At the age of nine he began playing the euphonium in the local school. The first performance one year later. During a performance, a guest trombonist suggest him to play on trombone.
In 1989, at the age of fifteen, he studied trombone in Milano with M.o Giancarlo Corsini (1st trombone at the “Teatro alla Scala” and successively at the RAI orchestra; professor at the Donizetti Institute in Bergamo).
A year later, make one’s debut at the RSI (Italian Swiss Radio) in Lugano.
In 1995 pass away, at the age of 57, M.o GianCarlo Corsini and some months later, A. Benazzo, his last student, obtain high school graduate at the Conservatory “A. Boito” in Parma.
In his formative years, he also studied composition and orchestra conduct with Fernando Ghilardotti (musician, conductor, student with Nino Rota, Franco Ferrara and Sergiu Celibidache). For many years, he was called to work, always as first trombone, together at the: Milano Symphony Orchestra “G. Verdi”, San Remo Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra G. Cantelli in Milano, European Sinfonietta London and many more.
Admitted to International Academy of music “L. Perosi” Biella (Italy) in 1999, he studied with J. Mauger (principal trombone at the Paris Opera), obtaining, a year and half later, the master’s degree.
In Swiss, he won at 16 Young Instrumentalist Competition triumphing with “Blue Bells of Scotland” by A. Pryor and “Cavatina op. 144” by C. Saint-Saens, live at the RTSI.
Was followed others 7 victories such as: European Music Competition, International Competition of music Stresa, Television Competition Swiss Parade, International trombone Competition Chieri-Torino.
He had partecipated as student in a rare masterclass with the legendary trombone soloist Christian Lindberg at the “Academy of Music” in Sion (Swiss).
Alessandro Benazzo’s repertoire, ranging from Renaissance on original instrument to the contemporary.
His discography also includes works by: Bach, Mozart, Bizet, Rachmaninov, Defay, Pryor, Monti, Faurè, Saint-Saens.
As guest soloist, he had recorded with Franz Scheuerer (1st violin Radio Symphony Orchestra Munich) works by Bach, Mozart and Schmith. With R. Chailly he has recorded for “Decca” works for orchestra by Rossini.
Engagements for RSI (Italian Swiss Radio), per la TSI (Italian Swiss Television), RAI (Italian Television) are followed.
The 2006 season included a tour playing Henry Tomasi trb. concerto with Arcadia Symphony Orchestra of Lugano.
Since 2005 Alessandro Benazzo perform exclusively as soloist .
Since 2007 Mr. Benazzo play his new trombone model “A. B. Artist Soloist” 24 K. gold, manufactured by Lätzsch Bremen – Germany.
Alessandro lives on the Lake of Lugano with his wife Elisa and the son Simone.
